Today as we celebrate Tommy’s 5th Birthday we are meeting up Steve Dayman to finalise our next Challenge.
As most of you are aware since losing Tommy to Meningitis we have been campaigning to get the vaccine out to all children to save other family's having to suffer the heart ache we have. We didn’t know the vaccine was available until it was too late, we had already lost Tommy. The Doctor who looked after Tommy told us that this vaccine could have saved his life. This is why in our opinion, every child, not just babies, should be vaccinated and we will continue to fight so Tommy didn’t die in vain.
Our next Challenge now is to help raise funds for Meningitis Now, Awareness of the Vaccine and also the symptoms of Meningitis to spot the signs and symptoms before it’s too late.
After we lost Tommy we were put into contact with Steve Dayman the founder of Meningitis now. Who took the time to come out to our house and visit us. Steve set up the charity Meningitis Now after losing his son Spencer to the horrid disease. While Steve was with us he told us about his Marathon Walk he is doing to Mark the 30th Anniversary of Meningitis Now. He asked if we were around when he walked through Tamworth could we show him some support. He then showed us the route he was taking, Which goes past so many family houses, it’s as if the route has been written for us so how could I not join him in memory of our little man. Both Steve and the charity have helped us tremendously over the last 19 Months.

This event is taking place on Thursday 20th October 2016 we start at The Wolferstan Arms in Shuttington and continue into Tamworth down the Tamworth Road through Amington, Bolehall then via Dosthill, Kingsbury, Whiteacre Heath, Coleshill, Cooks Lane might even pop into Big Johns for a quick bite lol, then onto East Medway, Garretts Green, Sheldon and then onto the Finish at The Olton Tavern, Solihull. Where I may need a well-earned drink. The full route with Road names can be found on the pictures.
