Well finally I've got round to updating Tommy's Page with the walk info. Its been such a busy time the days have flown into one. I just wanted to let everyone know that I completed the walk, in a fashion. Those of you that know me, know I don't do much walking so the walk itself was a challenge for me. But I was determined to do the best I could and That I did. Chris & Ela had kindly picked me up from home and took me to the Wolfstern Arms in Shuttington, where we started the walk at 8.30am, I was joining Steve and some of his volunteers on Day 13 of his Marathon Walk. We were also joined by another lovely couple Georgina & Andy who had also lost their son Liam to Meningitis 7 years ago. We walk the lanes of Shuttington, Amington, Bolehall and into Tamworth where I was joined by Hubby Martin, Mother and Father in Law and Chris & Ela. We meet the Mayor and had a photo taken. We then Continued to walk the route. My brother in law, Malcolm appeared at Dosthill to also show support. All along the way people were very generous, cars pulled over to donate. At Whitacre heath, Sarah 1st appeared, she took photos of me and the others, I looked a right state. When we got to Coleshill I was beginning to hold the other walkers up and Steve said I needed to get in the van so they could catch up. I was so disheartened and felt like a failure for not completing the whole walk and then I got to talking to Alan the Driver and he then suggested a cunning plan. He said, get someone to take you to the front vehicle and walk at your own pace until the others catch up. So the cunning plan was hatched. I needed to find a way to get to the front vehicle and as if by magic my dad appeared, so he took me ahead. I broke down once I got into my dads car and he gave me good talking to and told me I hadn't let anyone down and basically get a grip. lol So I got my strength back by treating myself to a strawberry shake from Big Johns. I had been looking forward to it all morning and then when the front vehicle appeared I started walking. I managed to do a good distance until the others caught me up but my lovely sister in law and Saviour of the day was there to ferry me back to the front vehicle again. Where I began to walk again. At some points my two nieces Abbie & Aimee walked a little way with me. We did this a couple of times along the route but it enabled me to do as much as I could otherwise it would have been game up at Coleshill. I walked passed my dads house and he came running out with the money he had collected for us. The last half a mile was all up hill, but I was determined to do it. Sarah had gone ahead and spotted the pub we were finishing so she came back and said the finish line is ahead. I walked with Georgina and we plodded up this hill. When I got to the Finishing line I was greeted by my loving husband and Chris & Ela, Little had I known that the had driven passed me. Sarah, Abbie, Aimee and Max were also there and they gave me a bunch of flowers which took me by surprise to I began to water them form the tears from my eyes. By this point I was very emotional. (LOL More than usual). It was then that the weather decided to change, all day it had been nice, a little fresh in parts, which was gladly received as we were all hot from walking, but in most places the sun was shining and then as we had crossed the finishing line it started to rain. I believe it was little man beaming down on me all day. We all went into the pub and had a lovely cold drink. We all had a good chat. Chris and Ela brought me and Martin home. Once I had sat in the car for the journey home my legs seized. I pulled myself out of the car and walked into the house I must have been a sight as I felt like a wheeble, wobbling down the path. I got in the House had a cup of coffee and then decides to take my trainers off. It was then I was greeted with three lovely blisters. One on each of the balls of my feet and one on the heel of my left foot, they didn't really hurt my feet were just throbbing. I popped a couple of paracetamol and took myself off to bet. I woke in the morning aching but not too bad and certainly not as bad as I was expecting. I had the weekend to recover before having to go back to work. Everyone has been so supportive and very generous My just giving page is currently sitting at £370, When I went back to work on Monday the factory guys had collected £101 which I was really touched about and I have since been given another £15 so this will all need to be added. So In total I have raised £486 for Meningitis Now. But Most of All I have raised further awareness of the Symptoms, the Disease and the Vaccine and hopefully saved other family's loosing a loved one to this horrible disease but to top it all I've kept the memory alive of my sweet little Angel, my Little Man Tommy. So I would like to thank each and everyone of you for you generous donations and for all you support in helping me to achieve this, I could have done this without you all. THANK YOU XXXX (and just for the giggles at my expense, I've added the photos taken on route).
