Rememberance Day at the Hospice

2015 September 13

Created by Sharon, Martin & Matthew 8 years ago
Today we went back to The Donna Louise Hospice for our first remembrance day service with them. A slide show was shown with pictures of the 15 Children that have died at the Hospice in the last year. Tommy's smiling face kept beaming across the room. The theme this year was rainbows and clouds and a variety of poems and songs were amongst the service. Majority of the poems were written in memory of the little ones passed by their family's. We had written our own little poem that was read out and also printed in the booklet. A candle was lit in memory of all the children that have passed away at the hospice and then 15 candles were lit as the name of each child was read out who have passed in the last 12 months. After the service we all pinned our own little cloud messages to a lovely canvas, that the children at the hospice had painted with help from Kevin. We then had refreshments and went into the gardens where all the children played on the beautiful playground. There was also lots of activity's for the little ones to do. It was a very emotional day and we came away with a Cd of all the music and poems from the service as well a memory of 2015 Rainbow Tea light and as this was our first year we also got the tea light with Tommy's name on that was lit during the service. A very emotional day and tears were flowing but it was comforting to know we were not alone on this journey and we are not the only ones going through this. We would like to say a huge thanks to the hospice for inviting us and to everyone who helped to make todays remembrance day so special. We look forward to next years already. xxxx
