Well word got out that Mummy was approaching her 20th Anniversary at work, so her wonderful colleagues decided to throw an early Birthday Party at the Foodie Friday and all the proceeds were donated to the Donna Louise in Memory of Tommy. As well as the food the NPD guys organised a sweet hamper raffle. The team set a new record and raised £176.00!! So now onto the tasty culinary delights the team created today. They started off with a light cheeky summer number after some inspiration from the new summer food magazines; Chargrilled Watermelon Steaks topped and roasted with diced Halloumi that was coated in our special blend of toasted Spiced Dukkah which the team had developed for previous customer innovation presentations. They were finished off with fresh mint chiffonade and sticky balsamic vinegar glaze. Yash made his ever popular onion, spinach and potato bhaji’s with his fresh mint yogurt dressing. Liz got busy with the Butterscotch Popcorn which was accompanied by options kibbled candied sweetcure bacon. Whilst Matt coordinated all the prep for the trio of tacos that was to follow as well as creating a real treat by making fresh churros with chocolate sauce. As a team they all cracked on together like a fully-fledged chef brigade to make the trio of tacos which comprised of using our standard pulled beef, Shredded duck and pimping up some refried beans. These were served with a selection of toppings which included ; BBQ sauce, fresh guacamole, pickled red onions, pickled red chillies, fresh lime wedges, crispy spicy corn kernels, fresh coriander and not forgetting Matt’s secret Pepper sauce they also made pickled watermelon rind to serve as an additional accompaniment with the tacos. Everyone seemed to enjoy the great food and as ever there was a good atmosphere. I'd like to thank the NPD department for all their hard work and I would also like to thank everyone who participated and donated to todays foodie Friday.
